BINA Puri Holdings Bhd through its associate KL-Kuala Selangor Expressway Bhd (KLSE) has awarded two packages of the expressway project to Mudajaya Group Bhd, valued at RM958 million.
Package 1 of the proposed design-and-build contract is from Assam Jawa to Kundang, while Package 2 is from Kundang to Taman Rimba Templer, Bina Puri said in a statement yesterday.
The company said Mudajaya won the contract based on a competitive tender exercise, and is expected to complete it within 30 months.
Bina Puri, with participating interest of 50 per cent together with its partner Arena Irama Sdn Bhd, is aiming to start the project's physical work by the third quarter of 2008.
KLSE will provide an alternative link road to the present Federal Road 54 from Kuala Lumpur to Kuala Selangor. It forms part of the government plan KL Outer Ring Road (KLORR) which starts from north of Templer Park to Assam Jawa in the Kuala Selangor district.
The expressway is a 33km dual carriageway. When completed, the expressway will enable users to cut travelling time from two hours to 45 minutes from Kuala Lumpur to Kuala Selangor.
"With the award of the contract to Mudajaya, a reliable contractor, we believe that the project will be successfully carried out with quality and timely completion," Bina Puri said.
In 2007, Bina Puri increased its order book to RM2 billion from RM1.6 billion in 2006, and expects the value to increase this year as it looks for opportunities locally and abroad.
